The How-To-Play-Bass Membership Ezine

What Is The How-To-Play-Bass Membership Ezine?

For nearly a year I produced the How-To-Play-Bass Ezine on a free, weekly basis. However this model no longer fits with both the time it takes to produce the Ezine, plus what I've got planned for the Ezine in the future (basically bigger and better, possibly an associated forum at some stage, interviews, etc etc).

In order to facilitate this I've decided to upgrade the weekly Ezine to a subscription based service (paid annually or now monthly). The weekly Ezine will now be delivered in PDF format - you can download a sample ezine by right clicking on this link: sample ezine

There are two levels of membership - the standard (which is PDF only) and the Premium (which is PDF plus Video content). Full details are below.

Will There Still Be A Free Version Of The Ezine?

Yes there will be a free eEzine with a bassline - but the free Ezine will only be published monthly. And there will be no articles and no early bird offers for future products.

So What Will The Membership Ezine Contain?

Each issue of the Membership How-To-Play-Bass-Ezine contains the following:

  1. A transcription of a bassline - presented in music notation only and music notation with bass tab. These transcriptions WON'T be available anywhere else.
  2. Beginner's Corner. This will be a look at the main parts of a tune that is suitable for beginners to play. Additionally I'll video most of these basslines and post to my YouTube channel. The high def original of these videos will be available for members to download
  3. An article related to bass playing, e.g., practicing, teaching, or playing. (For an example of my articles please go to the Articles page). After a month or so I may publish some of these articles to my website.
  4. A weekly educational article. The first topic I'm going to deal with in this manner is Sight Reading From The Ground Up. There will also be MP3 files as well to simulate 'real song' scenarios - these will be generated with Band In A Box, taking advantage of their real drums and real tracks so that they don't sound cheesy - if you don't have Band In A Box I think you'll be really surprised at how good these files sound - and they'll make your sight reading practice more fun! Eventually these columns will be collated and sold on my website in eBook form. When the Sight Reading From the Ground Up course is finished, I'll move to another topic.
  5. Advance notice of eBooks and eCourses being offered for sale on the How-To-Play-Bass website, usually with an early bird discount .
  6. Premium Members will get an exclusive tuitional video breaking down one of the songs from the ezine and showing you in exacting detail how to play the song. There will be one of these a month. Here's a part example of a tuitional video:
  7. Premium Members will have the option to download the high definition master of EVERY YouTube video I make from the date of their membership. I will make some more tuitional videos for YouTube - as they help attract people to the site - but I honestly can't say how many there will be. But there will be Video Articles as well - if anyone wants the original version in M4v format for their iPod or iPhone it will be available.

Complete Details Of The New How-To-Play-Bass Ezine

Format: The videos are in M4V format - so they'll play in the majority of media players. My recommendation is that you play them in either Quicktime or iTunes - both programs are available on Mac and PCs. Because the videos are in M4V format you can also transfer them to video compatible iPods or iPhones. The PDF files can be read (and printed out) in whatever PDF Reader you use - if you don't have one, Adobe has a free downloadable reader available.

Delivery: The Ezine is published in PDF format. Each week you will receive an email with a link to download the PDF File. Links for videos will either be included within the PDF, or within the email that contains the link for downloading the PDF.

Payment Methods: All payments are via PayPal. If you don't have a PayPal account they are extremely easy to set up and use - or you can pay securely by credit card.

Currency: All payments are in US Dollars. Paypal will convert the USD amount to your own currency when you get your credit card statement. In some cases, depending on where you're from, you may be able to see the conversion rate in your own currency before you pay (this feature is not available for all currencies though).

Compatibility: The PDF format of the Ezine is compatible for both Macs and PCs. If you have any issues, don't hesitate to email me and I'll help you sort them out.

Support: If you're having trouble downloading the Ezine, or finding software to open it, all you need to do is email me. I'll get back to you with answers and help as soon as possible.

If you want to subscribe to the Standard Membership please email me and I'll email you the link.

NEW!!! - MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION WITH TWO WEEK FREE TRIAL

I've had some emails from people who are interested in checking the membership out, but not wanting to pay annually. So I've created a monthly subscription. Additionally I've built in a two week free trial - so if you subscribe you get the first two weeks for free and then if this is not for you you can just cancel the subscription from your PayPal account. So the worst case scenario is that you get two ezines to check out and keep. That should make it a no brainer!

(Read the feedback on the right from real life subscribers of the ezine too. These are regular guys - just like you and me - they are not professional bass players. They are just players who want to get better, and want quality information.)

Here's the payment link if you want to try the How-To-Play-Bass.com Membership Ezine out with the two week free trial -due to the increased management the monthly subscription is $6.50 a month. Each month you'll get a minimum of 4 ezines (two transcriptions per ezine, one complete and one for beginners), one detailed video tutorial, 4 tutorial columns, and the option to download the high definition master of any video I post on my YouTube channel:

Important: Reasons Why You Shouldn't Delay

1)Each week you delay is another Ezine that you've missed. Back Issues will be available at some stage - but the monthly videos never will be. Once their month has gone they'll be taken down and replaced

2)Members of the Ezine get special offers and discounts of upcoming products - ONLY members of the Ezine will get these offers.

3) One issue in October is scheduled to have an interview with the bass player who played the transcription in that issue, with his thoughts and observations. Whatever your ability level you don't want to miss out on that!

If You've Still Got Any Questions?

If you've still got questions then use the Contact Form and let me know. I'll reply as soon as I can - usually within 12 hours. Oh, and you could also check out the Teaching Articles - which you'll find indexed on the Articles Page.

Buying Paul Wolfe's Ezine was a "no brainer".   After recieving the "free version" for a period of time, I saw the tremendous value gained from reading Paul's articles.  Now, the membership version blows that experience away.  The articles are awesome and the songs provided are great.  The value gained far outweighs the small fee paid.

My playing continues to improve.  The insight Paul provides and motivation gained is second to none.  I have also learned to play many more songs.

This is the best money I’ve spent on my bass education.  No matter how advanced of a player you are - we all still can learn something and this Ezine offers something for everyone - no matter what your skill level.

The only thing that might have prevented me subscribing to the Membership Ezine was that I didn't know you. But the comments on your YouTube videos (and the videos themselves) convinced me that it would be no error to subscribe.

I am overwhelmed by the sheer amount of material that I get. I still
didn't manage to establish my "golden hour" every day so I am still
falling behind every week :)  In short: the most inspiring material I could get until now.

This is the best learning resource I ever saw.  It would be topped only by a personl trainer.  You get sightreading, ongoing motivation for regular and ‘correct’ practicing and the transcriptions – all backed up with a ‘real world’ approach.

For me there were no obstacles to subscribing. It was easy to put forth the money, because of the time I save using the lessons over and over at my leisure. And the info stays with me, so it’s priceless.  Compared to paying for lessons it’s a no-brainer for this bargain offered by Paul.

I know he is truly into his craft and truly feels responsible to come across to his students as someone who is caring for the time together. The PDF files are short, sweet and good for beginners as well as those more advanced in their chops on the bass.  I get better mileage to my time on the practice wagon.

The Ezine is always on time.  The videos are the best, and I dig the English accent!  Paul's nature is genuine and he corrects the oops.  That shows compassion, humility and genuine concern to put out the correct info.  I would definitely recommend it.

I would recommend the ezine to other bass players because I think Paul has a unique approach to teaching bass playing. The reason I subscribed to the ezine was the fact that his lessons and teachings were in the context of actual songs and I think that most bass players are more interested in learning songs than just starting of with theory or technique.

I also like the experience that Paul has playing, which he conveys to us as bass players. I've learned so much with the tips and insights that Paul has given. Another part that I like is the web watch, were he suggests other websites that also deal with bass playing in different aspects that can help us.

I think the price is great value for the information and help it gives me.

This is a well produced magazine that I look forward to receiving every Friday.  At the moment, because I’m still a beginner, I like the tunes in Beginner’s Corner. The videos to go with those are also great.  What I like most is that someties quickly, and sometimes with a bit of work, I work through something and at the end of it I have a new tune in my repertoire.  This fills me with confidence, makes practicing a pleasure and is after all the reason why I play the bass!

First off let me say that I rarely pay for stuff on the internet. But having signed up for the free ezine I already had an idea what I was paying for.

I was impressed with the detail and depth. I paid a lot more for 12 issues of BassPlayer Magazine and when you take away the advertising and other fluff you pretty much have the How To Play Bass.com ezine.

The sight reading lessons are good however I'm not able to take full advantage right now but I am archiving them for when I have more time. The tabs are also good. Some I use and some I don't and like the sight reading They are there when I need them. But most of all between your honest commentary and your videos that let us actually see that you know what your doing there is a personal touch that makes it works.

I have recommended it to the bass players I know.  Thanks for all your efforts.
