More Info About Bass Guitar LessonsHere's how a typical bass guitar lesson works out: First 5-10 minutes - Playing through all assignments from the previous week. Talking through any technical points and/or any difficulties encountered by the student. Next 20 minutes - Talking - and playing - through the breakdown of the song presented in the current lesson. Any complex passages are examined and suggested fingerings presented. Next 10 - 15 minutes - Theoretical material that pertains to the song being covered is presented. Topics vary throughout the course, but includes some basic music theory, ear training, practise schedules, reading and writing music, rhythms, right and left hand exercises, Hanon for bass. Last 5 minutes - Answering any questions of the student. The student has at least one assignment each week - namely the song being covered - and is expected to play the song through in full at the begining of the next session along with the backing track accompaniment. Full notes are provided for each lesson - along with a practice track on CD - including the bassline for the song being covered (in written notation and tab, tab only up to week 20). From week 20 students also receive a real world bass line (usually just intro, verse, chorus) which they must transcribe by ear, notate on music paper and then play during the first part of the next session.
